Born in Monroe, Georgia, artist Leslie Wilkes works in abstract, highly-geometrical, kaleidoscopic gouache on paper and oil on canvas. Through bold, 1960s-inspired color and pattern, Wilkes cycles through multitudinous compositions before selecting those that elicit response from her audience. Wilkes has studied painting and sculpture at the Skowhegan School in Madison, Maine, and has received a BA from the University of Texas before gaining an MFA at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago.
