Born in Havana, Cuba and based in San Francisco, artist Llane spent his formative years as a painter before a concern with the wastefulness of the fashion industry precipitated a shift toward working with textiles. Braiding, weaving, and hand-stitching fabric scraps into functional goods and art objects, Llane “preserves our relics and repairs our rejects (such as damaged furniture) as part of his ongoing studio practice.”
