Rattan Tsubo Secateurs

Handmade in Japan.

Solid steel pruning shears made in a smaller form for slighter hands and lighter tasks. The limited edition shears are hand-wrapped in wisteria rattan for a textural grip. Made in Sanjo Niigata, Japan by Toyama Hamono, a traditional shears manufacturer hand-making secateurs and scissors since 1861. Based on the manufacturing methods of Japanese swords, solid steel pruning shears feature a drop forged handle and curved blades.

Each tool is stamped with the characters hidehisa which during the Edo period in Japan, represented superior quality and craftsmanship and has become a Toyama Hamono signature.

To best care for carbon steel, soak in warm water with mild soap after each use and hand dry. Always keep dry when not in use. If rust occurs on carbon steel blades, carefully clean with linseed or camellia blade oil. Do not leave shears out overnight or in the rain to avoid deterioration of the rattan handle. Avoid folding the lock catch inside of the handle or use with lock catch half out which can wear and snag the rattan wrap.
