Caroline Gray
English artist Caroline Gray values the slow, contemplative process of hand built vessels. Interested in the subtleties of spatial interaction as a reflection of psychological interaction, her vessels are characters who form relationships to the spaces they inhabit or, in some cases, to one another. In building with slab earthenware, Gray intuitively alters shape and form as each piece evolves. Her sculptural, non-functional vessels are finished using terra sigillata, a refined clay slip which reveals the fine details of the making process.
